SERTPO Releases Draft FFY 2026 Planning Work Program for Public Review

The Southeastern Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SERTPO) has published its Draft Planning Work Program (PWP) for Federal Fiscal Year 2026 and invites the public to review and provide input. This comprehensive plan outlines the region’s transportation planning goals, strategies, and priorities for the period spanning October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026.

Developed by the Southern Oklahoma Development Association (SODA) and the Kiamichi Economic Development District of Oklahoma (KEDDO) in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), the FFY 2026 PWP is a vital document that guides the use of federal State Planning & Research (SPR) funds for coordinated regional planning in southeastern Oklahoma.

The program focuses on six core elements:

  1. Program Support & Administration – Ensures efficient operations of the transportation planning process, including board meetings, audits, training, and website maintenance.

  2. Data Acquisition & Management – Supports the collection and maintenance of regional demographic, socioeconomic, and infrastructure data to inform planning decisions.

  3. Long-Range Transportation Planning – Guides the development and publication of the Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP).

  4. Short-Range Transportation Planning – Assists local communities in securing transportation grants and supports multimodal planning initiatives.

  5. Public Education & Participation – Expands outreach efforts, virtual meeting accessibility, and updates to the Public Participation Plan and Limited English Proficiency Plan.

  6. Mobility Management Program – Promotes improved transportation access through service inventory updates, stakeholder engagement, and marketing efforts.

The total budget for the program is $218,750, including $175,000 in SPR funds and a $43,750 local match provided by SODA and KEDDO.

SERTPO encourages all stakeholders, residents, and community leaders in the 17-county region to review the draft plan and share their feedback. The PWP not only supports the day-to-day planning work but also lays the foundation for future transportation investments that meet the needs of rural and nonmetropolitan areas.
