Planning Work Plan (PWP)

The Planning Work Program (PWP) outlines the transportation planning priorities, activities, timelines, and funding for the Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SERTPO) and South Central Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SCORTPO). Each PWP is developed by the Southern Oklahoma Development Association (SODA) and Kiamichi Economic Development District of Oklahoma (KEDDO), in coordination with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), and is updated annually.

The PWP serves as:

  • A guide for regional transportation planning activities.

  • A scheduling and budgeting tool for projects.

  • A requirement for receiving State Planning & Research (SPR) funds.

Major Priorities:

  • Publish and implement the Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP).

  • Expand GIS mapping capabilities and launch a GIS equipment lending program.

  • Strengthen short-range planning for bicycle, pedestrian, and active living infrastructure.

  • Continue and enhance public engagement and community outreach.

  • Support local communities in securing Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and other transportation grants.

  • Maintain and advance the SERTPO Mobility Management Program to improve regional transit coordination.

  • Continue Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan development.

  • Expand public participation and outreach through meetings, presentations, and virtual engagement.

  • Increase short-range transportation planning, including grant assistance and active transportation initiatives.

  • Sustain SERTPO Mobility Management Program to improve transit coordination.

  • Upgrade and maintain SERTPO website for public access to planning documents.

  • Continue data collection and GIS mapping for transportation assets.
